Thames River Place

Thames River Place is an independent living seniors Life Lease Townhome community with 25 bungalow units in clusters of 3-4 units along a private driveway overlooking the scenic Thames River. It is located at, and operated by, the retirement community of West Perth Village (Villa) at the edge of Mitchell, Ontairo.

Type of Accommodation

Each unit size is available in a choice of two floor plans

  • 9 – Regular (inside) Units
    1,065 square feet with master bedroom, ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet and second bedroom/den, and half bath
  • 16 – Large (end) Units
    1,223 square feet with master bedroom, ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet, second bedroom/den, sitting room/den, and half bath

Services

West Perth Village community offers a variety of services to our clients. Our Long Term Care residents receive all of the services needed to accommodate their daily living (i.e. dining, housekeeping, laundry and assistance with activities of daily living). To our independent living residents at the Ritz Manor and Thames River Place we can offer up to 3 meals a day through our Long Term Care Home or Meals on Wheels. There are also a variety of social & congregate dining programs offered through Mitchell & Area Community Outreach.

Thames River Place Rates

Thames River Place bungalow townhomes are available for purchase on a life equity basis at the current market value price. Unit occupants must be 55 years of age or older. No more than two people can occupy a unit on a permanent basis. Occupants are responsible for all utilities (which are individually metered): natural gas, hydro, water/sewage, phone, cable TV and internet access. They are also responsible for property taxes on their unit (estimated taxes are between $1,500 – $1,700)

A monthly maintenance fee is assessed to cover all exterior maintenance, landscaping and lawn care, snow removal, street lighting, and insurance. Approximately one-third of the monthly fee is deposited into a replacement reserve to prepare for major future capital costs such as roofing and re-paving. The monthly fees are listed below. These fees are reviewed annually and subject to change as necessary.

Middle unit = $396.94/month
End unit = $453.32/month

Additional costs include telephone, cable television (optional), internet access (optional) and insurance for contents and liability.

Who do I contact to apply for long term care?
Please contact the Southwest Community Care Access Centre (C.C.A.C.) at 1-877-418-5668.

How much does it cost?
The MOHLTC sets the accommodation co-payment rates for Long Term Care homes across the province. The co-payment rates are effective July 1, 2011 and change from time to time (at a minimum, annually).

What are the visiting hours?
As part of our focus on quality of life for long term care residents, we encourage family and friends to visit as often as possible, except during posted outbreaks. Most people visit between 9:00am and 9:00pm.

Can family and/or friends join residents for a meal?
Absolutely! If family and/or friends would like to join a resident for a meal, as a courtesy to our cook, we request at least 24 hours notice that you will be attending. Guest meal prices are listed below,taxes included. Children under age 6 are half price.
Breakfast – $8.00
Lunch – $10.00
Supper – $9.00

Our History

History of West Perth Village
West Perth Village was incorporated in May 1971 as a charitable organization dedicated to meeting the residential needs of seniors living in the Municipality of West Perth, which incorporates the town of Mitchell and the surrounding townships of Fullarton, Hibbert and Logan. The organization, which is also a registered charity, is governed by a Board of not more than fourteen volunteer Directors who hold membership in the Corporation and who are elected at its Annual General Meeting.
